Michael Mayes in Concert

SAVE THE DATE for our Up Close and Parallèle Gala

Saturday, October 3, 2015, 6:30pm

Heroes, which traces the journey of a hero through loss, excitement, longing, and redemption in arias by Leonard Bernstein, Mark Adamo, Jake Heggie, Evan Mack, and others. You won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind performance, given by one of our favorite singers in the best Opera Parallèle style!

Join us for an evening showcasing another side of acclaimed baritone Michael Mayes! Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, performance, and auction presented in The Commandant’s Ballroom & Lounge at the classic 1920’s Beaux-Arts hotel, Marines’ Memorial Club.

Opera Parallèle’s annual gala, Up Close and Parallèlle, is fast approaching! On Saturday, October 3, at Marines’ Memorial Club, along with a fabulous dinner, wines, auction, and general festivity, we’ll present Heroes, starring Michael Mayes. OP audiences got an explosive introduction to Michael last February, when he sang the role of Joe De Rocher in our production of Dead Man Walking with incredible power, personality, beauty, and humanity.

 Tables of 10: $10,000, $5,000 and $3,500

Individual tickets now on sale: $350

For information and reservations: 415-626-6279 or email Roma Olvera.

“Michael Mayes’ performance was nothing short of phenomenal – a feral but emotionally vulnerable characterization given voice in robust and impeccably controlled singing.”

Joshua Kosman, San Francisco Chronicle, February 2015

Up Close and Parallèle is the premier annual fundraising event, providing essential support for Opera Parallèle and its cutting-edge productions, including this season’s Champion by Terence Blanchard at SFJAZZ.
